An early warning and intervention system, called BARR, pictured above, was one of the most successful education interventions to come out of the Department of Education’s research and development program that issued $1.4 Almost 150 of them reported results with more than 20 still unfinished. The failure rate was 74 percent.

Pennsylvania School Reports Student Growth in Mathematics Despite National Trends

First-grade students’ scores jumped from 52 percent in the 2016–2017 school year to 98 percent in the 2022–2023 school year—a 46 percent increase. Fourth-grade students’ scores improved from 42 percent in the 2016–2017 school year to 90 percent in the 2022–2023 school year.
