2011 Edublog Award Nominations

After watching the Edublog Awards process for a few years, and even voting in the final round before, I''ve decided it''s time for me to get involved at the grass-roots level by making some of my own nominations in 2011! I think giving a shout-out to these people/resources benefits the entire online educational community by highlighting great resources others may not know about and giving those of us less experienced in blogging and PLN building examples to learn from.

Looking Back At 2010 And Looking Forward To 2011.

The Web20Classroom

So here is my reflections on 2010 and my predictions for 2011. Check out the Voicethread In Education wiki for some. So many educators ditched the service all together since the free options for educators doesn''t really have all that they need. Through the use of Twitter, Facebook and other sites, educators are starting to see the power of social media to extend learning beyond the classroom. More and more people started using the great education features.

TeachMeet Georgia 2011 Keynote-The Path To Teacher Leadership

The Web20Classroom

Last weekend I had the honor and pleasure of giving a keynote at TeachMeet Georgia to a wonderful group of educators from all over the southeast. My keynote centered on how educators can move from just teachers to teacher-leaders. Is it something educators can do on their own? It was a great day of learning and I was glad I was able to make it down. A video of my keynote is below. It begins with a great intro from Cybrary Man , Jerry Blumegarten.

Edubloggercon East 2011

You do not have to have a blog to attend; it is open to all educators and FREE, so I hope some SLPs in the area might consider coming next year (especially since I may help with its organization, depending on the timing of the conference). The day was terrific and featured a lot of great discussion about apps, Google + (under Robyn Eaton''s notes), and other educational topics, so I thought I would compile the links and tweets for you as follows.

Here's a Thought: Reform Driven by Passionate Educators

A Principal's Reflections

Ask yourself why you or someone you know chose a profession in education for a living. If you answered no and are committed to working tirelessly to ensure that all children learn and are successful at it then why do you not have a place at the education reform table? Image credit: [link] Being an educator means that you are a part of the noblest profession. Quite frankly it takes a special person to be an educator. Reform in education begins with passion.
