A National Call for Awareness: Adult Education and Family Literacy Week

September 22, 2016 | By

Approximately 36 million adults in the U.S. have low literacy skills. At the same time, research has shown that a mother’s reading ability is the biggest predictor of her children’s future academic success.

Adult education and family literacy efforts are critical for helping some of our most vulnerable learners: low-skilled adults and their children. National Adult Education and Family Literacy (AEFL) Week, held from September 26 to October 1, 2016, is focused on raising public awareness about these incredibly important issues.

In our partnership with the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, we at Digital Promise want to help you explore the most pressing issues of adult education and family literacy, as well as provide the opportunity for you to learn how you can get involved.
