Survey Ranks 10 Key Trends

The 2017 CoSN IT Leadership Survey reveals these top 10 findings:

■ Budget constraints are ranked as the top challenge for the third straight year.
■ Mobile learning is the top priority for IT leaders, followed by mobile and network security.
■ Cybersecurity and privacy rank as the number-three concern.
■ Only 13% of IT leaders report that staffing matches needs.
■ Single-Sign-On (SSO) is the most-implemented interoperability initiative.
■ Over a third of IT leaders express no interest in BYOD.
■ 79% of respondents indicated that OER is part of their district’s digital content strategy.
■ IT leaders are experienced—73% have worked in K–12 education technology for more than 10 years.
■ Lack of racial diversity continues to be an issue—90% of IT leaders identify as white.
■ IT leaders are well-educated—77% have some college beyond a bachelor’s degree and 61% hold master’s degrees.
