Study Reveals Critical Future Job Skills Gap

A global study released by Adobe, “Creative Problem Solving: Essential Skills Today’s Students Need for Jobs in Tomorrow’s Age of Automation,” highlights the importance of teaching these skills. Educators and policymakers from around the world overwhelmingly believe that professions that require creative problem solving skills are less likely to be impacted by automation. But today’s students are not developing problem solving skills, thereby threatening their ability to secure the jobs of the future.

Key findings from the report include:

97% of educators feel creative problem solving is important for students to learn
74% of educators and 76% of policymakers believe professions that require creative problem solving are less likely to be impacted by automation in the future
86% of educators say students who excel at creative problem solving will have higher-earning job opportunities in the future
69% of educators agree that there’s not enough emphasis on creative problem solving in today’s curricula
80% of educators and 67% of policymakers believe that creative problem solving should be integrated across all courses.
