Student Data & Privacy in the Cloud from Sarah Hanawald on Vimeo.

Join this collaboratively planned conversation with other independent school educators and leaders. Offered by ATLIS, EdTechTeacher, and the Independent Curriculum Group, we’ll be talking about student data and how schools can navigate the essential task of ensuring privacy for students while they are leveraging the latest technological innovations. Moderated by Jennifer Carey, EdTechTeacher editorial writer and Director of Educational Technology at The Ransom Everglades School, the webinar will feature these panelists: Bill Fitzgerald, director of Common Sense Media’s Privacy Initiative, a program designed to evaluate privacy policies and practices of vendors building educational technology; Paulina Haduong, a Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University exploring the intersections of youth, education, and technology; Leah Plunkett, another Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet & Society who currently works on the Student Privacy Initiative; and Justin Reich, EdTechTeacher co-founder, executive director of the PK-12 Initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, research scientist in the MIT Office of Digital Learning, and lecturer in the Scheller Teacher Education Program.

Lorri Carroll, moderator of the ISED Twitter chat (#isedchat), has also agreed to make student privacy the topic of this week’s discussion.
