Today Thursday 23rd of February is Digital Learning Day, so to mark this we are releasing the Online Learning Report 2017 that the GoConqr team has been working on. The report aims to understand the impact of digital tools on teaching and learning.  The full report looks at the behaviour of 2.5 million users in more than 160 countries; a broad sample to draw upon for conclusions and relevant forecasts on the current situation of the sector.

The top 5 findings are:

1. 8 out of 10 students prefer to study online without company

79% of users who study online prefer to do it on their own, without the collaborating with others. Surprisingly, given the prevalence of social networks amongst young people, study tends to be a solitary activity: only 21% of the users registered on GoConqr joined online study groups.

2. 3 out of 10 students navigate through  mobile devices

While users accessing GoConqr via mobile devices have grown a 32% in the past two years, they accounted for only 30% of all platform traffic during 2016.

3. Desktop users are more active

Desktop users spend on average 5 minutes and 44 seconds creating a resource while only a small proportion of mobile users create resources and, when they do, the resources are usually lighter, with an average creation time of 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

4. 9 out of 10 users prefer interactive content

90% of the users who generate content in GoConqr prefer interactive resources, such as mind maps or flashcards, while only 10% use the more traditional ones, such as notes and slides.

5. English, maths and biology the most popular subjects

The most common subjects in all the countries studied are English, Mathematics and Biology.

In addition to these findings, the full Online Learning Report 2017 looks at regional variations around the globe and offers some predictions about the future of digital learning.
