Vernier hosting 34 data-collection workshops

Workshops provide educators with hands-on experience as they learn about new ways to integrate data-collection technologies into their curriculum

Starting in February, Vernier Software & Technology will host 34 free, hands-on workshops to help science and STEM educators learn how to use and integrate the latest data-collection technology into their curriculum.

During each 4-hour workshop, Vernier training specialists will guide attendees through classroom-ready experiments using Vernier’s award-winning hardware, software, and mobile technology for physics, chemistry, biology, environmental, Earth science, and middle school science.

“Our workshops provide educators with a great professional development opportunity to help them discover new and innovative ways to use technology as part of their instruction,” said John Wheeler, CEO of Vernier Software & Technology. “Novice and veteran teachers alike gain valuable training and learn best practices they can bring back to the classroom to help students engage in scientific discovery while mastering the concepts detailed in both their state standards and in the Next Generation Science Standards.”

Workshop attendees have the option of earning two (quarter) graduate science credit hours through the Portland State University Center for Science Education. Each workshop also includes a light meal and an electronic copy of Vernier’s Workshop Training Manual, which includes ready-to-use lab handouts for all science disciplines.
