NCSA Announces Resource Library

The National Cyber Security Alliance and Palo Alto Networks have aggregated security content for IT leaders in K–12 institutions.

Last month, the National Cyber Security Alliance announced the launch of the Cybersecurity Education and Career Resource Library in partnership with Palo Alto Networks. The resource library contains educational materials for IT leaders — including those in the K–12 space — looking to examine and fortify their cybersecurity practices. The site separates information for K–12 leaders into K–6 and 6–12 categories.

IT professionals will find information on certified cybersecurity programs, tips for cybersecurity at school and at home, and paths for students to continue their cybersecurity education. The resource library also contains materials written specifically for minorities and for women, and readers can filter resources for these audiences when they visit the site.

Earlier this year, a survey conducted by the Consortium for School Networking found that cybersecurity is a top priority for IT professionals in K–12. CoSN’s survey, which includes responses from nearly 400 K–12 IT leaders across the country, also found that 77 percent of districts do not have a full-time employee dedicated to cybersecurity.

This resource library from NCSA and Palo Alto Networks can aid IT administrators in K–12 districts as they work to protect vulnerable student data from cyberattacks.
