A new Pew Research report reveals the majority of Americans believe US K–12 STEM education is average or below average compared to other developed countries.

43% US is average compared to other countries
30% US is below average
25% US is above average

Perception of higher ed STEM quality slightly better

35% US is at least above average for undergraduate STEM education
38% US is at least above average for graduate STEM education

When Americans reflect on their own K–12 STEM education

75% Liked their K–12 science classes
46% Of those who disliked science thought their STEM classes were difficult
