New Micro-credentials for Back-to-School Professional Learning

September 11, 2020 | By

As part of our robust micro-credential ecosystem, we proudly partner with organizations to provide opportunities for on-demand, personalized professional learning. Our research-backed micro-credentials are digital certifications that verify an individual’s competence in a specific skill or set of skills, regardless of where and how they learned them.

Over the last three months, Digital Promise launched 76 new micro-credentials with our partners, and the ecosystem is growing every day.

Micro-credentials launched this summer

Clark County Education Association
The Clark County Education Association (CCEA) has launched 10 new micro-credentials housed within four stacks that center in global education, family partnerships, motivating learners, and understanding learners and their diverse needs.

Delaware Department of Education*

The Delaware Department of Education has launched 17 new micro-credentials within four stacks to support early literacy throughout the state.

Edcamp Community at Digital Promise
Educators who organize the rigorous and personalized learning experiences at Edcamps know how comprehensive the experience is. The Edcamp Organizer micro-credential aims to honor these educator leaders’ depth of understanding about participant-driven professional development.

The Modern Classrooms Project
The Modern Classrooms Project empowers educators to create blended, mastery-based classrooms for all learners. In their second micro-credential, Implementing Modern Classroom Instruction, the educator implements blended, self-paced, mastery-based learning experiences.

Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative
The Kentucky Valley Educational Cooperative (KVEC) is one of eight education cooperatives in Kentucky, consisting of 22 member school districts and serving more than 50,000 learners. This summer, KVEC launched seven new micro-credentials, adding to the Teaching Rural Students from Poverty and Teaching Students with Disabilities stacks.

King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi
King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Thailand fosters engineering leaders through hands-on learning, education innovation, real-world research, and entrepreneurship. The university creates and drives changes for a strong and sustainable global society. This summer, KMUTT launched two micro-credentials to assist educators with classroom feedback and using the constructive alignment principle, which builds relationships within elements of a curricular unit.

UTeach Computer Science
UTeach Computer Science provides classroom-ready high school computer science curricula and teacher professional development to foster computational thinking and engage all students through hands-on project-based learning. Their three new micro-credentials allow educators to demonstrate their skill and expertise on:

  • “Unplugged” Computational Thinking, where students gain strength in computational thinking without the use of computers or devices.
  • Rubber Duck Debugging, a useful—and popular—technique to help with problem-solving using metacognition.
  • Live Coding, a technique where the educator engages in real-time programming, sharing their process aloud while troubleshooting to demonstrate real-world scenarios for students.

World Savvy
World Savvy, an organization that educates and engages youth to learn, work, and thrive as responsible global citizens, has launched six new micro-credentials centered on communication, future-ready skills, and self-awareness and reflection.
