Creativity Lies in Content Creation

A Principal's Reflections

'Yesterday''s #edchat topic focused on creativity in the classroom. Allowing students to create content not only fosters creativity, but also makes learning engaging and meaningful. Recently Joe Andolino (Applied Music Theory teacher at New Milford High School ) and his class hit upon a subject that every teen is interested in: cellphones. The Web20Classroom

'I admit it. I am addicted to Twitter. And I have admitted that before. I truly enjoy the people I am able to connect with and have conversations with. But I am most addicted to the resources because that is how I started. I spend lots of time finding stuff for my teachers. And I figure if it works for them, why not share with other educators. There are tons of links, articles videos and other great stuff that come across my screen everyday.

The Complete Package

A Principal's Reflections

'As an administrator one of the most satisfying parts of the job is seeing teachers collaborate willingly on interdisciplinary lessons. This type of learning is extremely important in terms of providing students with connections between the content areas in order to provide a heightened sense of relevance and understanding. I was excited to learn last week about an activity that was being planned for a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

As I do, there is something that I've noticed in many classes I've visited - there are still some educators that don't seem to know the no nos for teaching with a projector or interactive whiteboard (IWB). Perhaps it's easier to notice when you're sitting as an audience member or an observer which is not often the case for teachers.

Speaker: Andrew Cohen, Founder & CEO of Brainscape

The instructor’s PPT slides are brilliant. You’ve splurged on the expensive interactive courseware. Student engagement is stellar. When they run out of ink they will be unable to write words or ciphers until their next trip to the settlement.
