The beginning of a new school year means new possibilities, new challenges, and new innovations. Whether you are implementing  ST Math® for the first time or kicking off another year using the program, there are ways to optimize your success using the program.

One of the key components to using ST Math successfully is to develop a strategic plan for implementation. This involves identifying your goals, planning ways to get there, and checking in along the way to make sure you’re on the right track. Implementing ST Math with fidelity, as well as having a successful kick-off, has a direct effect on your classroom’s success.

Danette Morse and Huey Pham, our MIND Success Team, are here to share four tips for a great start with ST Math to guarantee classroom success. These helpful tips to getting started with ST Math will enable you to start with fidelity and get your students up and running as soon as possible. Four Tips For a Great Start With ST Math

Tip #1

Log into the console to get your classes ready. The link to log in is web.stmath.com. When you click that link, you’ll see JiJi set against a black screen. Click on the “Teacher Login” button and log in.

If you do not already have your class set up, click “Create Class.” If your class has been created for you or your school uses Clever, click on the class card to make sure your students are accounted for.

Tip #2

Test Drive and play a few games! Click “Test Drive” on the console or in the class card, click on “Curriculum” to see all of the objectives for the year, in the order the students will play through them.

It’s a good idea to play through objectives. By doing this, you will get an idea of what your students will experience, and also connect this to what students will be learning with you in the classroom.

Tip #3

Make a schedule. We highly recommend setting up regular times in the week for your class to use ST Math. This is one of the best and easiest ways to remain consistent.

For grades K-1, we recommend 60 minutes per week. For grades two and up, we recommend 90 minutes per week. The goal is for your students to consistently use ST Math every week. So create your schedule, stick with it, and you will see results.

Tip #4

Provide a review for your students that goes over how to log in to ST Math, how to create their accounts, and how to add them to your class. If your school already creates accounts for you or your students use Clever, review how they login to their ST Math accounts. This will help immensely if your students know what to do when they first boot up the program.

The instructions on how your students log on and how to add them to your ST Math class can be found here in ST Math Help Site.

Each of these tips shouldn't take more than a few minutes each and help to get your classes off to a strong start.
