The only thing better than teaching interested children about science, technology, engineering and math STEM) is doing it for free. And, that’s exactly the role of Microsoft’s latest STEM offerings. In addition to the ability to use the Minecraft code base to teach storytelling and programming, there’s a Make Code set of courses that emphasize real world interactions with computers. There’s also a hacking section that can reveal the inner life of machines by taking them apart and repurposing them for something never thought of, like turning a battery and a clothespin into a telegraph.  All the activities have instructions and lesson plans.
