What To Do With Too Many Tabs!

In my line of work I see many teachers computers. Teachers are a busy bunch and one way technology can help them is to clear up the clutter they have on their technology.

One thing that I have seen is something that looks like this.

Multiple browser tabs

The above photo is not that bad, I have seen worse. Don’t get me wrong, I am not judging these teachers, my own browser gets cluttered often. Like I said, teachers are busy folks and they can’t just close a great website, resource or list because they will eventually get back to it.

One thing that I have tried in the past is to have different windows of my browser open so that I can minimize the ones I will look at later. However this can get confusing and you might accidentally close the window. Yes, you can get them back but it will take time. Also having all of these tabs open uses more memory, thus slowing things way down.

There is, however, a better way! Use the OneTab Chrome extension and bring all those tabs into one making it into an easy to use list. This also saves up to 95% of your memory according to the makers of this fantastic extention.

To get it head on over to the Chrome Web Store and install it. Once you have it installed all you need to do to clear up the clutter and save memory is click the icon.

As you can see, this extension makes your browser window way less cluttered. If you want to re-clutter, have no fear, with a click of your mouse or trackpad everything returns to normal. One tab is also available for Firefox and is safe to use. According to the creators of the extension. “We take your privacy seriously. Your tab URLs are never transmitted or disclosed to either the OneTab developers or any other party, and icons for tab URL domains are generated by Google. The only exception to this is if you intentionally click on our ‘share as a web page’ feature that allows you to upload your list of tabs into a web page in order to share them with others. Tabs are never shared unless you specifically use the ‘share as a web page’ button.”

This share function is a great addition if you have a bunch of websites you want to share with students or other teachers on your team.

So head on over to the Chrome Web Store and declutter your browser today!

I hope you find this useful!
