On February 11, 2020, a lifelong dream of mine came true. EduMatch Publishing released my first children’s book, the I’m Sorry Story.  (I originally wrote this story for my fifth grade students a decade ago and every year as I read it to a new class, it became a conversation and lesson to refer back to when necessary.)

Read Alouds

My book launch consisted of author read alouds all over the United States and even in Germany! When the world started shutting down, my Zoom room and I remained open and continued to share read alouds throughout remote classrooms across the United States, Canada, and even Uganda!

A picture my friend shared on social media that made me cry tears of joy.

The #ImSorryStory is a great way to help young people understand what makes apologies sincere without lecturing. Parents have told me their kiddos read this book frequently and there are great discussion questions and activities at the end of the book for children, parents, and teachers to help go more deeply into the message. They have fueled incredible discussions from across the globe. It has been such a rewarding year in this regard.

The story is told in Dyslexie Font, which was designed by a person with Dyslexia and has helped many people be able to see the individual letters more clearly.

Get A Signed Copy

You should have it too! If you’d like to purchase a copy directly from me, for a discount of $10 and $5 for shipping (for a total of $15 in the USA only), fill out this form! I’ll write a personal message to your loved one (or even someone you’d like to stick it to in a nice way;) and send it them! Takes about a week to ship from Alaska, so if you want it before Christmas, order soon:). You can also order it from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, or EduMatch Publishing online. I just can’t autograph it for you. If you live outside of the USA, Amazon is probably the best and most reasonable route for delivery.

Author Read Alouds

If you are interested in an author read aloud, please direct message me on Twitter or send an email to melody@mjmcalliwrites.com.  I would love to plan out a time after the holidays!
