JiJi Day is happening Friday, April 24th!
JiJi is the beloved penguin in the ST Math software games. Every time a child demonstrates understanding of a math concept, JiJi crosses the screen, signaling success and leading the student to the next more challenging puzzle.
We’re so grateful for the teachers and parents who have supported and enabled their students to use ST Math at home during school closures.
JiJi Day is an opportunity to celebrate and foster a school culture based on the principles associated with JiJi: perseverance through challenges, a love of learning, and the thrill of success.
This year is a little bit different as most schools are closed and students may be engaged in informal or formal learning at home.
So why not celebrate JiJi Day remotely?
If you are a teacher, some of these ideas can be shared with your class via an online lesson or shared with families to use at home.
Feel free to play this message from JiJi to let students know JiJi is thinking of them and recognizes all the hard work they are doing learning from home. Play before or after an ST Math session to celebrate learning with JiJi.
This cutout JiJi can decorate students’ work areas while they work on ST Math or other remote learning activities. Take JiJi with you as you play and learn during other activities as well, such as baking, cooking, chores, walking, or building.
No printer? No worries! Ask students to draw, paint, or color their JiJi companion for the day.
JiJi Day is a great opportunity to do something a little fun and different, like allowing your child to dig out a halloween or play costume and spend the day in costume. Bonus points if your child dresses as a penguin!

While having a designated “school” spot in the house, even if it’s just a particular desk or chair, can be helpful for creating routines and good habits, switching up your child’s learning location once in a while can also add excitement. Give your child a few options, such as:
