SupportMyMac teams up with Connected Canadians to assist seniors

We’re excited to share news about an initiative that’s bringing connection and accessibility to those in need, even in our new, socially distanced normal.

We love to hear about partners or customers making an impact in their communities and around the world. That’s why we’re excited to share news about an initiative that’s bringing connection and accessibility to those in need, even in our new, socially distanced normal.

SupportMyMac is partnering with Connected Canadians and Ruckify to deliver and deploy devices to seniors across Canada. With the mission of Connected Canadians — to connect seniors with technology training and support — and the capabilities of SupportMyMac leveraging Jamf solutions, this partnership is playing a tremendously important role in the lives of seniors.

Devices provided by peer-to-peer marketplace Ruckify are dispatched to seniors and are then remotely managed by SupportMyMac which leverages the power of Jamf to provide efficient support, updates, app installation as well as for security and privacy configuration. In doing this, they’re able to provide tools to minimize feelings of isolation and loneliness through digital knowledge and technology training. Connected Canadians uses a customized, hands-on learning-centered approach, pairing tech-savvy volunteers with seniors.

SupportMyMac founder and CEO, Sam Arseneau, describes the goal of their partnership as an extension of their work and mission for “Drama-Free IT” and to provide all users with positive experiences in using technology. But in this case, it’s doing more than providing drama-free technology, it’s now shaping daily life for many seniors in the wake of a pandemic.

COVID-19 has made this important issue even more pressing. Prior to social distancing, volunteers worked directly with seniors to tackle clients’ various technology challenges and provide social interaction and connection. Now, they’re working around obstacles presented by the pandemic in order to make sure seniors are able to take care of even more basic needs entirely online, like ordering groceries, paying bills and staying connected to friends and family through video chats.

How does it work?

1. Ruckify provides Connected Canadians with loaned or donated iPads as part of their COVID-19 initiative.

2. Connected Canadians deploys the devices to the seniors, already provisioned by SupportMyMac and ready to be powered on.

3. Ongoing support needs are managed by SupportMyMac, leveraging the power of Jamf.

It’s amazing to hear when Jamf, our parters and customers can come together to help bring seamless technological experiences in a time of need. Thanks to SupportMyMac, Connected Canadians and Ruckify for this powerful project.
