17 years and counting for Jamf

Jamf turned 17 on June 10! Thank you Jamf Nation for helping us hit several key milestones along the way.

Last week — June 10 to be precise — we began our eighteenth year of Apple management service. Our humble beginnings were born in the computer lab at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire when our co-founder, Zach Halmstad, created Casper Suite (now known as Jamf Pro). And the rest, as they say, is history.

Ever since, we’ve lived Zach’s vision to create more efficient ways to deploy, manage and protect Apple devices.

In honor of our eighteenth year, we thought we’d take some time to recognize how much our shop has grown.

Jamf milestones

In 2019, Jamf surpassed 30,000 customers and 14 million Apple devices under management. We added more than three million devices and 7,100 customers last year alone. For yet another year, our product and engineering teams delivered on the promise of day-zero compatibility and feature support for Apple’s fall and spring releases.

We also made our first two major acquisitions: Jamf Connect (formerly NoMAD) and Jamf School (formerly ZuluDesk) to provide the best Apple tech solutions for customers in education and the enterprise.

The open-source solution will remain branded NoMAD, and Jamf will start to offer free chat support for this open-source product. The commercial versions of NoMAD, including NoMAD Pro, NoMAD Login+ and PKINIT, were folded into a single solution, and rebranded Jamf Connect. Jamf Connect allows our customers to streamline the Apple authentication and account management process to better secure devices, users and networks.

Jamf School is purpose-built for education and makes it easier for every classroom to maximize their education technology investment and focus on better student outcomes.

Product innovation and strategic partnerships

Jamf Pro, Jamf’s flagship product, added new functionality to enhance device lifecycle support; like managed software updates and the ability to upload mobile device inventory data before devices are enrolled. Jamf also created Jamf Setup and Jamf Reset, two new iOS applications that make it simple to use a single device to support multiple use cases. This is a game-changer ability for IT admins and end users across industries that only Jamf offers for shared device environments.

Jamf Now also grew by more than 100% and now supports more than 6,000 customers worldwide. Jamf Now added OS update management, macOS restriction support, custom iOS application deployment and custom macOS package deployment. Our customers love how easy to use Jamf Now is and how simple it is to get up and running.

And we’re still moving forward

Our customers’ incredible success stories are what keep us driving forward and pushing what’s possible with Apple devices. From IBM showing the world that Mac is more than enterprise ready (and less expensive than PC) to UC San Diego Health giving patients a reprieve from their illness with the help of an iPad, it’s because of you that we’ve reached this milestone.

Our promise is to continue supporting our customers and partners, and working to help organizations of any size, in any industry, with any level of expertise, succeed with Apple through solutions that help solve specific problems.

Thank you, Jamf Nation. Here’s to another 17 (and many more) years!
