What’s new in Jamf Pro 10.6

Jamf Pro 10.6 offers new features, performance and stability enhancements, plus initial compatibility for Apple's fall operating systems — which are currently in beta.

With 10.6, IT admins are able to integrate with Active Directory Certificate Services to issue digital certificates and act as a PKI Provider. In addition to new features, this release focuses on performance and stability enhancements in order to provide the best Apple management experience for IT admins. Finally, admins can begin testing macOS Mojave, iOS 12 and tvOS 12 betas.

AD Certificate Services

You can now add Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) as a PKI Provider in Jamf Pro. This allows you to use AD CS as the certificate authority (CA) for distributing certificates to computers and mobile devices via configuration profiles. Integrating with AD CS involves installing the Jamf AD CS Connector before configuring settings in Jamf Pro to enable communication between Jamf Pro and AD CS using the Jamf AD CS Connector.

After communication has been established, you can use Jamf Pro to distribute certificates via configuration profiles using AD CS as the CA. In addition, you can distribute in-house apps developed with the Jamf Certificate SDK to establish identities to support certificate-based authentication to perform Single Sign-On (SSO) or other actions specific to your environment. Jamf Pro also allows you to apply a Managed App Configuration to the app during distribution to enable the app to request the necessary certificates.

Initial compatibility

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) announced new operating systems and mobile devices management (MDM) enhancements coming this fall. We want our customers to be prepared for everything that’s coming from Apple. As such, Jamf Pro 10.6 provides initial compatibility with macOS Mojave, iOS 12 and tvOS 12 betas, allowing you to begin testing immediately. Start testing your common workflows with the beta software and prepare your organization for the upgrade this fall.
