Follett today announced the launch of Follett Classroom Libraries. Offering a wide selection of K-12 titles, Follett Classroom Libraries are designed to integrate into elementary, middle school, and high school curriculums, plus support teacher instruction and foster independent student reading habits.
Follett Classroom Libraries feature interactive lesson plans and extension activities. All lesson plans include home-school connection activities, helping to promote reading outside of the classroom.
All bundles are designed around Mentor Texts with Lesson Plans, Guided Reading Texts, and Independent Reading Texts. Three types of libraries are available with the launch:
• Social and Emotional Learning. Each library includes engaging nonfiction and fiction texts selected for classroom instruction around the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning’s (CASEL) five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making.
• Next Generation Science Standards. The NGSS libraries are a diverse, vibrant cross-curricular supplemental resource aimed at activating students’ natural curiosities and challenging their misconceptions about the world by engaging them with aligned mentor, guided and independent reading texts. To model the NGSS scope and sequence, libraries are available for each of the four domains: life science, Earth and space science, physical science, and engineering and technology.
• Striving Readers. With high-interest nonfiction and fiction texts, the Striving Readers library will engage all students, but especially those who are reading at or below grade-level expectations and striving to improve. Each library includes grade and age level-appropriate titles, such as Grade 3 Heroes and Grade 7 Unexplained Mysteries.
These new libraries also can be purchased in combination with the Follett’s Classroom Ready Collections, which debuted late last year and offer pre-vetted and aligned digital libraries of Open Educational Resources (OER) content for ELA, Science, and Social Studies.
