Tech upskilling startup Scaler (by InterviewBit) announced its recent acquisition of online learning platform Coding Minutes.
The acquisition is seen as a move for Scaler to accelerate business growth, leading to their Data Science & Machine Learning vertical launch, according to the announcement. Scaler acquired Coding Minutes for $1 million in an all-cash deal.
Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-Founder of Scaler & InterviewBit, said the platform, developed by two engineers, offers a “great combination of outstanding engineering minds with a sincere passion for teaching and giving back to the community”.
Engineers Prateek Narang, Mohit Uniyal, and Jatin Virmani started Coding Minutes in early 2021, where over 20,000 learners enrolled from 120 countries across their varied courses during the first four months since its launch.
“As we gear up for our next phase of growth and expansion, the experience that Prateek and Mohit bring to the table will help us tap into a much wider learner base: Thanks to them, we at Scaler are one step closer to becoming a world-class virtual tech-varsity,” Saxena said in a statement.
Prateek, in a separate statement, emphasized that they share a similar vision with Scaler.
He further explained that they also wanted to empower the masses with industry-ready tech skills without spending heavily on educational degrees.
Coding Minutes offers short-duration courses that cover critical concepts across Data structures, Algorithms, Programming Languages like Python, C++, Java, Version Control Systems, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Competitive Programming.
With the acquisition of this platform, Scaler said it will focus on building specialized content that will effectively engage the beginner-level tech aspirant.
It will also allow the company to tailor content towards students and professionals who want to enter the tech industry and have no background in coding or programming.
Apart from the acquisition, the founders of Coding Minutes have also joined tech upskilling startup.
Prateek has joined as the Engineering Lead & Instructor for Scaler Academy, Mohit as the Instructor for Scaler Data Science & ML Program, and Jatin as Program Manager-Content in the marketing team.
The company also ensures that it will continue to offer courses that are pocket-friendly.
