We asked teachers for real-life excuses students have made for missing class. Here are their stories...

1. “Dear Professor, I need to miss class today, because my dog might be pregnant.”

2. “I had a student ask to be excused from class and from writing a paper because they received a DUI the previous night. That was the semester 3 of my students had DUIs, each of whom asked to be excused from class and assignments. I still call it 'The DUI Semester.'"
