itslearning, Gooru enhance LMS platform with open content

Partnership supports educators’ access to open educator-curated content

LMS provider itslearning and Gooru, a nonprofit organization which provides a free online learning navigator for educators of the same name, announced a strategic partnership to enhance itslearning’s platform with open educator-curated content and successful practices for personalized learning.

The alliance will initially give teachers an avenue to find, remix and share collections and courses of open content designed for future-ready learning. Through a seamless integration, teachers will have instant access to quality multimedia content to guide student-centric learning experiences, supporting the success of every student.

“As the public education system evolves toward supporting students’ personalized needs, online learning tools have emerged that allow teachers to customize instruction. Unfortunately, many of the tools available only meet a small portion of teachers’ needs or they are prohibitively expensive. We formed this partnership in order to satisfy all educators’ requirements. It will put rich content — teacher-curated and classroom-vetted collections – on our powerful, personalized learning platform into the hands of educators around the globe,” said Arne Bergby, CEO of itslearning.

The enhancement of the itslearning platform with Gooru’s capabilities supports educator and learner discovery, acquisition, curation and critique of publisher, academic and online content with standards-aligned instructional support. Gooru organizes millions of online learning content items and connects a community of educators and learners to meet students’ unique needs with a personalized learning solution while itslearning, designed specifically for the K-12 sector, sets the gold standard for curriculum management, content integration, rostering and offering a customizable standards-aligned planner.

Bergby continued, “Giving teachers and students one unified user experience allowing districts to create or curate content, discover and use OER or even load IMS Common Cartridges from publishers puts itslearning where educators need us most, at the intersection of student-centered learning and improved teacher and district efficiencies.”

As a student-centered learning environment, itslearning gives teachers, students and parents access, as appropriate, to course materials, assignments, communities for collaboration, professional development tools and student progress reports. The platform’s personalized dashboards give teachers a way to quickly and easily share everything from instructional resources and assignments to assessments with students and parents.

“We want all teachers and students to have access to the best open resources for personalized learning,” said Dr. Prasad Ram, CEO of Gooru. “This exciting collaboration will benefit teachers and students, in and out of the classroom and around the world, bringing together educator-curated resources and tools designed to help teachers empower students with personalized learning opportunities.”
