Inside the Adult Ed. Market: A Webinar on What K-12 Providers Need to Know

Managing Editor
Ed Week Market Brief, Adult Ed Webinar, Oct. 16

For K-12 companies, the adult education market is big, complex, and full of possibility if they know how to navigate it.

It serves 4 million students. There are another 32 million students who need help developing basic skills. And an estimated $10 billion is spent in the adult education market every year. (The pre-K-12 ed-tech software market, by comparison, has been valued at $8 billion annually.)

On Monday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. Eastern, EdWeek Market Brief will host a webinar that will act as a primer for vendors on the adult-learning landscape.

We’ll talk about what K-12 companies entering the adult ed. market need to know to get started. We’ll discuss how those vendors can determine if their products and services–in curriculum, ed tech, management systems, communication tools, and other areas–are a match for the needs of adult ed. programs.

And we’ll discuss mistakes that education providers need to avoid, if they’re going to succeed.

I’ll be moderating a discussion with three presenters: Mike Berlin, a principal consultant for Entangled Solutions, who has studied trends in the adult education market; Ira Sockowitz, the founder and CEO of Learning Games Studios, which has sold in the adult ed. space for years; and Jennifer Kobrin, the director myPLACE and Digital Initiatives, for the Office of Adult Education, for the city of Philadelphia, who can offer an on-the-ground perspective on the needs of programs like hers. Each of the guests will make a presentations, and take questions.

I laid out some of dynamics in play in the market in a recent story in EdWeek Market Brief, in which I talk about how ed-tech, the evolving demands of employers, and other factors are bringing changes to the market.

So register to tune in on Oct. 16. We’ll see you there.
