Updates

  • GlobalEdCon Celebration and Meetup Reminder. For those of you who missed our Thursday announcement, Lucy Gray and I will be generously hosted by the Sidwell Friends School for a GlobalEdCon Celebration and Meetup in Washington DC on Tuesday, March 18th. In 2014, we are celebrating the fifth anniversary of GlobalEdCon and we're excited to share information about our future plans with you at this face-to-face event. We also would like to thank those who have supported our previous events and introduce ourselves to others who may share our vision. The event filled almost immediately, but you can sign up to be on the waitlist here.
  • CoSN 2014 Annual Conference Reminder. March 19th - 22nd in Washington DC will be the annual CoSN Conference. CoSN is designed for education leaders to better understand their changing roles in creating the new face of learning, and it's a great event with terrific history and high-powered speakers. The conference starts with an opening "Town Hall Forum" with the Hon. Bob Wise and Yong Zhao, has David Pogue as closing keynote, and has special pre- and post-conference events and tours. Join us Thursday and Friday of the conference for CoSN Camp, an unconference event. Included in the fun will be "Spectacular Failures," a fast-paced sharing of risk-taking adventures that taught us something valuable (read: failures)! I'll be there helping the organizers, as well as sharing one of my own many "spectacular failure" stories. Don't miss the fun!

This is our way of saying thank you for all of your support!
  • Learning Revolution Online Conference: Call for Proposals. The call for proposals for the inaugural Learning Revolution Online Conference will open on Thursday and we'll be sending a separate email to announce this. This event will bridge the conversations about learning that are taking place in schools, libraries, museums, work places, and home learning worlds. Mark your calendars for April 21st - 25th, and look for more information in this Thursday's special announcement.

  • Going global for Natural Disaster Preparedness Month. Alabama educator, Shannon Hill, and her 3rd grade students are interested in sharing their natural disaster preparedness presentations with a global audience. They've created a wiki space where other classrooms can share their own presentations, give feedback, and engage with her students. This is a great way to share, Shannon! Read more here.
  • Classroom activity to facilitate active listening. Karen Cameron shares this 8 step exercise to teach students (and teachers) how to actively listen to their peers. Kudos

We had a great time at OZeLive 2014 over the weekend. This inaugrual Ed Tech Down Under conference made a big splash with participants, too!
Brilliant, rich resource sharing.
-Carol Teitelman
Loved that this was open to anyone from around the world.
-Megan Iemma
Excellent way to bring different people together and in an efficient method of exchange.
-Kathryn Stoerzbach

Final Notes

Coach Carole and an intrepid organizing committee pulled together the first ever OZeLive - Ed Tech Down Under - virtual conference this past weekend (the recordings are already up HERE). They did a great job, and with Amy Brinkley's help, have given us a model that we're calling "host your own conference." With 40+ session for a specific time zone, we think this is a great model and are now anxious to plan some other similar events--most immediately for Africa and India. Do let us know if you have any ideas for specific groups or geographical areas that you think might be ready for this kind of event.

See you online!
