Oregon adopts K-8 Common Core math programs

Common Core programs use research-based approach to help students learn reasoning, critical thinking

common-coreThe Oregon State Board of Education has adopted Curriculum Associates’ i-Ready and Ready Common Core math programs for use in all K–8 classrooms across the state.

Built for the CCSS, the programs were built from scratch by strictly following the Publishers’ Criteria for the Common Core State Standards.

Ready Common Core Mathematics emphasizes conceptual understanding through reasoning, modeling, and discussion that explores the structure of mathematics while also developing students’ procedural fluency.

The program uses a research-based, proven-effective, gradual-release instructional model that balances conceptual understanding and procedural fluency to build confidence and mastery of the Common Core math standards.

Likewise, i-Ready Diagnostic & Instruction combines a valid and reliable diagnostic measure and personalized instruction in a single online product. The adaptive diagnostic for grades K–12 pinpoints student needs down to the sub-skill level and generates a combination of online instruction and downloadable teacher-led lessons that are unique to each student’s diagnostic result.

The Ready and i-Ready individualized instructional plans are easy to understand, differentiate instruction, and support a blended learning solution.

“I had the privilege of exploring Ready and i-Ready as part of the Oregon Math Adoption. I was very impressed with your program and look forward to showing others what an amazing math curriculum your company has created,” said Sarah Dalisky, Effective Learning Teacher at Salem-Keizer School District, as part of the evaluation process.

Diana Spillman, 5th Grade lead teacher at Millicoma Intermediate School in Coos Bay School District, said, “I was very impressed with the Ready/i-Ready math program including the depth of knowledge in the assessment and instruction. The reports and information that will immediately change and drive instruction are amazing.”
