Impero Software Announces Philip Walters as its New Chairman

Austin, TX, May 18, 2018 – Impero Software, a leading provider of classroom management, network and online safety software to schools, today announces Philip Walters as its new board chairman. Walters, of London, brings the wealth of knowledge and expertise he has acquired during his more than 40 years in the global education marketplace to Impero as it enters into a new phase of growth.

Walters currently serves as Advisory Director of Investcorp, which assumed ownership of Impero Software through its technology-focused private equity Fund, Investcorp Technology Partners, in August 2017. Walters is also chairman of EdComs, the UK’s largest communications and marketing agency specializing in education, and CABI, a UK-based intergovernmental organization that supports subsistence and small-holding farmers around the world.

Walters previously served as chair of GL Education, the leading provider of educational tests and assessments to UK schools; Rising Stars UK, the second largest primary school publisher in the UK; and Book Source, a UK-based book distributor. Walters also was chief executive of Hodder Education, one of the top three school publishers in the UK, and he has served as a non-executive director of Nelson Croom, Encyclopedia Britannica (London), and Yale University Press (London).

Walters also has extensive experience in the non-profit sector including as chair of Book Aid International, a charity that equips libraries in sub-Saharan African countries with textbooks and readers.

In 2010, Walters was awarded membership in the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to educational publishing. The MBE is an honor bestowed upon those in the UK who have made notable contributions to the arts and sciences, charitable organizations or public service.
