#EIE19: Distinguished Panel to Reflect on Lasting Impact of Brown v. Board Decision

The Foundation for Excellence in Education (ExcelinEd) announced that a distinguished panel of education leaders will be reflecting on the 65th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision at the 2019 National Summit on Education Reform on Wednesday, November 20 in San Diego, CA. As the Foundation’s flagship initiative, the National Summit annually convenes the best and brightest from around the world to share strategies to improve the quality of education for all children.

The Supreme Court’s landmark, unanimous decision in Brown v. Board of Education changed the course of education in America. During the panel discussion. education leaders will reflect on its lasting impact, our nation’s progress over the past six decades and, in particular, the work remaining to advance educational equity for each and every child. ExcelinEd is honored to welcome as one of our panelists Cheryl Brown Henderson, daughter of the Reverend Oliver Brown who in the fall of 1950 along with 12 other parents filed suit on behalf of their children against the local Board of Education.

“Sixty-five years is more than enough time for our nation to close the doors on schoolroom inequity and deliver a high-quality education to each and every child. But in far too many communities, that goal remains elusive. There is still much more work to be done and I’m looking forward to hearing from these education leaders who have dedicated their careers to advancing educational equity in America about how we can continue to make strides to close the equity gap.”
