ETA hand2mind Commits $100,000 to Match DonorsChoose.org Teacher Requests to Build Student Math Fluency

VERNON HILLS, Illinois – September 18, 2018 – today announced a new partnership with DonorsChoose.org to help young learners around the country build the math skills necessary to prepare them for the jobs of the future. The company is committed to matching the generous donations used to fund teacher requests on DonorsChoose.org ofup to $100,000 for its innovative solution for grades K-5.

Closing the skills gap in math is critical to both students’ success in life and the growth of our national economy. Results from the 2017 National Assessment of Educational Progress – The Nation’s Report Card – revealed that students have seen little to no gains in math since 2015. Yet, data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that STEM jobs – requiring strong math skills – are projected to grow to 1 million by 2022. ETA hand2mind created Daily Math Fluency to help teachers around the country improve and accelerate math skill development for millions of young learners, preparing them for success in college, our evolving workforce and life.

Launched earlier in 2018, Daily Math Fluency provides K-5 teachers with hands-on learning resources to help their students develop an understanding of basic math facts. The activities in the kits are designed using visual models and manipulatives to support classroom math curriculum without cutting into instructional time.

“At ETA hand2mind, we believe that engaging, hands-on activities will put young learners on the path to becoming mathematical thinkers,” said Bill Chiasson, president, ETA hand2mind. “With DonorsChoose.org as our partner, we now have the opportunity to empower even more elementary teachers across the country to positively impact the lives of students every day.”

Over the past 18 years, DonorsChoose.org sparked a national movement in crowdfunding educational resources and supplies by providing mission-driven donors a powerful platform to transform learning for nearly 30 million students around the country

“Partnering with organizations, such as ETA hand2mind, allows DonorsChoose.org to put resources in the hands of teachers across the country,” said Vashti Barran, partnerships manager at. “DonorsChoose.org Daily Math Fluency projects will support teachers with resources for accelerating the development of foundational math skills in their classrooms.”

Elementary teachers who wish to submit a project requesting Daily Math Fluency for their classrooms will find the kits on DonorsChoose.org through the Amazon Business link. For more information, visit .
