Save The Date for Dozens of Higher Ed Events in 2020

Editor’s note: The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted plans for gatherings and events across the board. Every organizer has postponed, cancelled and/or taken their event virtual. We are keeping track of the latest change of plans in this spreadsheet.

It’s a brand new year, which means the rows of dates on your desk or digital calendar may be pleasingly empty.

We’re here to tempt you to fill in just a few of those vacant boxes. There are dozens of higher education technology conferences already planned for this first year of the new decade, and you may find one (or many of them) useful for professional development, networking or simply learning about new ideas.

We’ll be at some of the big annual acronym gatherings, like SXSW EDU in Austin, ASU GSV in San Diego and ISTE in Anaheim. (Come by and say hello!) And we’re running one of our own: Immersion, a workshop for edtech entrepreneurs on the day before ASU GSV, on Mar. 29.

The calendar below lists events happening in 2020. The PDF includes links to the event websites where you can find the most current information for each conference.

Think we missed something? Let us know. And wherever your travels take you, we hope you also give yourself breaks to relax, recharge and reflect.

To help you find which events may be right for you, here’s how the calendar is organized:

Green, red, orange, blue: What do these colors mean?

In most cases, anyone can attend any of the events on the list. However, we’ve color-coded these events based on their designated primary audience.

  • Green events are oriented around a specific product or company.
  • Red events focus on the business and industry side of edtech more than pedagogy.
  • Orange events are tightly focused around a specific topic or audience, such as libraries or community colleges.
  • Blue events focus on teaching and learning and are targeted at instructors, faculty and instructional designers (though some of these events involve exhibitor halls).

Your link took me to a conference that already happened or doesn’t exist yet. What gives?

Don’t worry—we confirmed with conference organizers the dates for future events that aren’t yet listed on their site. New details should be updated on their websites soon.

Also, some organizers run local and regional events that we didn’t have room to include. Make sure to check out their websites for their full list of 2020 gatherings.

Aw, you left out my favorite event!

Sorry about that! Send us an email at feedback@edsurge.com about the details you’d like us to include.

Will you update this calendar in the future?

Yep!

Do you have a similar K-12 calendar?

Here it is!
