edWeb.net selected as one of AASL 2018 Best Websites for Teaching & Learning

AASL award logoedWeb.net is delighted to announce that it was selected by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) as one of the 2018 Best Websites for Teaching & Learning.

The Best Websites for Teaching & Learning recognizes websites of exceptional value to inquiry-based teaching and learning as embodied in the AASL learning standards. Websites selected for this prestigious recognition are free, web-based sites that are user friendly and encourage a community of learners to explore and discover, and foster the qualities of innovation, creativity, active participation, and collaboration.

The 25 websites that were selected as the 2018 Best Websites for Teaching & Learning were announced during the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans on Saturday, June 23. edWeb.net is the only professional learning website recognized for this award. edWeb.net is a free professional learning network that helps educators connect and collaborate to improve teaching and learning through online communities and edWebinars that are presented live and on-demand.

Lisa Schmucki, the founder and CEO of edWeb.net, commented, “We’re so thankful for this wonderful recognition from AASL, and for recognizing the importance of free, high-quality, collaborative professional learning. We began hosting free edWebinars on edWeb with Michelle Luhtala, Library Department Chair at New Canaan High School, and that helped us create a model that has grown to cover so many topics in education. It means so much that our work began by supporting school librarians who have been at the forefront of transforming teaching and learning!”

Michelle Luhtala added, “edWeb.net validates the idea that teaching a new concept is the best way to learn it. Presenting webinars to such a diverse and global community deepens our collective learning. I am deeply grateful to edWeb for this opportunity and to AASL for this recognition.”

This year marks edWeb.net’s 10th anniversary. The edWeb community has grown to over 550,000 teachers, administrators, and librarians from preK through higher education. Over 1,100 educators have presented more than 1,500 edWebinars to share their ideas, resources and practices with their peers. edWeb won three 2018 SIIA CODiE Awards: Best Collaborative Social Media Solution for Educators, Best Professional Learning Solution for Faculty & Administrative Staff, and the top award of Best Overall Education Solution.

edWeb.net is free for all educators to join at www.edweb.net/join.
