Today, rather than LIVE blog every session, I experimented with note taking and creating media. Here are experiences from two fantastic sessions today.

Design-Engage-Connect Student Designed Curriculum

Jodie Deinhammer and Sunny Richardson told the story of how their science classrooms in Texas transformed the learning environment to a point where students are now designing the syllabus, creating projects, and connecting to students from schools all over the world. How can you encourage your students to take charge of their own learning? How can you challenge your students to take what they have learned and use that knowledge to impact society? Jodie and Sunny walked us through these questions.

nABLEing All Learners with iPad and Apple Watch

Luis Perez did a fantastic talk about making Assistive Technology (AT) HIP (Hope – Independence – Passion). His belief is that “inclusion inspires innovation.” iOS devices such as the iPad include a number of built-in features that support diverse learners in reaching their full potential, including text to speech, word prediction, as well as dictation and support for closed captions. Apple’s commitment to accessibility even extends to its latest device: the Apple Watch. From Luis, we learned a number of ways to customize student learning.
