I can recite the names of all my elementary school teachers as easily as I can go through the letters in the alphabet. My parents, on the other hand, don’t remember a single one of my educators. And I certainly don’t blame them! They met with my teachers twice per year: back-to-school night and parent-teacher night. They checked the boxes and moved on. Now having a daughter of my own, I’m eager to be a different parent: one that works hand-in-hand with teachers and knows what’s happening at school so I can be helpful at home.
